Notre Dame

CONFERENCE
Applied Machine
Learning Days are back
The fourth edition of the Applied Machine Learning Days will take place from the 25th to the 29th of January 2020.
Inspiring speakers, 30 hands on workshops, 29 domain-specific tracks, a startup day, poster sessions and networking opportunities. This is the fourth edition of the Applied Machine Learning Days. EPFL will host its largest edition of the event to date from the 25th to 29th of January 2020 at the SwissTech Convention Center. For the fourth year in a row, Professors Martin Jaggi, Marcel Salathé and Robert West have organized this event which has rapidly risen to become the leading Machine Learning event in Switzerland and in Europe, welcoming around 3000 attendees and over 250 speakers.
Similarly to previous years, the first two days of the event will feature a vast number of ’hands-on’ workshops which have doubled from the previous edition. The main conference will take place over the following three days and will tackle 29 different topics.
2020, the year of novelty
In its fourth edition, the AMLD has grown from strength to strength, nearly doubling in size and adding an additional day to the event. This edition brings some exciting novelties. The event will be completely carbon neutral. The organizers have committed to offset all the carbon that is created in the lead up to the event but also from the travels of speakers and participants, for example.
In addition, the third and final day of the main conference will address how AI affects labor markets, hiring practices, the nature of jobs, and the political and social consequences of these effects – making it a first in the organization of the conference and touching a different audience.
Finally, Wednesday also features the first ever startup day of the AMLD. It will welcome no less than 40 startups to have an exhibition space and to pitch.
As in previous years the event will feature poster sessions, plenary sessions with leading figures in machine learning, multiple networking opportunities and an evening cocktail to wrap up the event. EPFL students benefit from special ticket prices.
